Mother: Isabella - Minerva was always closet to her mother out of both of her parents. They spent many hours together reading, cooking and just talking. Minerva viewed Isabella as a friend, mentor and confident who she could always talk to about things that were going on in her life. When her mother died in 1964, Minerva was devastated by the loss but slowly managed to move on.
Father: Robert McGonagall. Minerva wasn't exactly close to her father but she did love him and respect him. She viewed him as a man to look up to, who could do no wrong (though that slowly changed over time) and was the head of the house. When he died in the mid-50's she was upset over the loss of him but not overly so.
Siblings: None
Extended Family:
Grandparents: Edward and Cassandra (paternal). Minerva unfortunately did not know them as they died in the 1917 Influenza Epidemic.
Victoria and Arthur (Maternal). Victoria and Arthur were the typical Grandparents to young Minerva. They spoilt her and always gave her what she wanted and would often just spend time talking and playing with her when she was younger. Unfortunately they died within a year of each other in 1930, when Minerva was only five so she doesn't really remember them
History:
Born on October 4th 1925 to Isabella and Robert McGonagall she grew up in a loving house hold as an only child. Her parents loved her but didn't overly spoil her like some only children that she new of. Her parents made sure that she had plenty to do and soon discovered that she was quite bright. Due to her parents influence she grew up as a bit of a bookworm who greatly enjoyed Quidditch. Her parents introduced her to chess at the age of nine which she quickly too as well.
When she entered Hogwarts in 1936 she was sorted into Gryffindor surprising both herself and her parents who thought she was destined for Ravenclaw given her love of reading and learning new things. While at Hogwarts she excelled in the majority of her classes but stood out above everyone else in Transfiguration. During her second year she was offered private lessons with Albus Dumbledore the Transfiguration teacher at the time and quickly advanced through the curriculum. During that year she also made the Gryffindor Quidditch Team as one of the chasers. Her peers called her a book work and teachers pet but she didn't mind. She had always enjoyed learning new things and was proud of it. Minerva took electives of Arithmacy, Astronomy and Ancient Runes and got a total of eight Owls made up of Four O's, three E's and an A in History of Magic as well as being made a prefect that year. During her Newt years she continued on as Chaser and excelling in her subjects. In Seventh year she was named Quidditch Captain and Head Girl and was allowed to learn how to become an Animagus under the direction of Professor Dumbledore. She graduated from Hogwarts in 1943 as the top student with O's in Charms, Transfiguration and Ancient Runes and E's in Defence, Arithmacy and Astronomy.
Two years out of school she was recruited as Transfiguration Professor when Professor Dumbledore has appointed Headmaster. She quickly gained a reputation as a stern but fair teacher who wouldn't take any nonsense and misbehaviour in her class. In 1955 she was appointed Deputy Headmistress and Head of Gryffindor House as the previous one retired from the school.
During the 1970's she joined the Order of the Phoenix at the urging of Albus Dumbledore and quickly became an active member of it. She tries to influence students to their cause without seeming to do it as she knows she will be killed if she does try and do so. Whenever one of her students was killed she went into a depressed mood for a couple of days before coming out of it to continue helping everyone with the war.
Over the next thirty years she's continued to do this as well as teach the students of Hogwarts all the things she knows in hoping that one day a better Magical World will be formed where there is no blood purity. During the second war she once again fought for the same reasons she did during the first war. After the Second War ended Minerva has helped rebuild Hogwarts to its former glory- thought it's not complete it’s getting there slowly.

Appearance: Standing at five foot and five inches she has black hair that is pulled back into a pony tail or it will be out around her shoulders. Her eyes are a pale blue colour and are beady looking underneath her square glasses that she wears all the time. She is known for rarely smiling and wearing a lot of green tartan- her robes, nightgown and even her dress robes are made of it.
Special Abilities/Powers: Animagus- Tabby Cat
Personality: Minerva is a kind, caring but stern woman who looks out for all of her students. She uses her stern exterior to keep students under control and won't take any misbehaving unless it’s an extreme case as shown throughout the books as she works hard to protect them.
She enjoys a good conversation with friends and is easy to get along with once you break through her sternness which is actually quite easy to do. Minerva tries to make friends with everyone she has a lot of interaction with even if they have a rocky start though when she was younger she was extremely shy among groups of people and people she hadn't met before. This slowly changed as she moved through Hogwarts with the help of her friends who she came to rely on greatly. She cares a lot about her friends and family which many consider a weakness and is quite adverse to prejudice of any sort which many people didn't and still don't like. Once someone gets into Minerva's heart they will find it is extremely hard for them to get out of it again as she forms friendships for life. Many people value the fact that they can rely on her in times of need and is always willing to listen to them.
Not overly ambitious or brave she is often described as loyal or hardworking which is surprising as she was sorted into Gryffindor at Hogwarts. This is due to the fact that she has a hidden braveness that comes to light whenever one of her friends or family is in danger of being hurt.
Strengths: Powerful overall magically she is exceptionally strong in the field of Transfiguration, especially Defensive Transfiguration. She also excels at Defence and Charms though she is nowhere near as good as them as she is Transfiguration.
